Onze hut was aan bakboord op het brugdek, vlak achter de brug. Deze hut was de zgn. owners cabin en had langere bedden dan de rest. De hut was ook iets ruimer. De kapitein had dezelfde hut aan stuurboord.

M/S Diana was delivered on March 15, 1931, from Finnboda Shipyard to Rederi AB Göta Kanal. Originally built as a combined passenger and freight boat, she was commissioned for an expected surge of Swedish-American visitors and tailored to fit Göta Canal’s locks.

Named after the Roman goddess Diana, she holds the distinction of being Sweden’s last steam-powered canal vessel – converted to diesel as late as 1969.

Major interior reconstruction took place in 1974, including relocation of the wheelhouse and reduction of forward deck, followed by a complete refurbishment in the 1980s that repurposed cabins for meetings and fused dining and lounge areas.

Since 2001, Diana has been owned by Strömma Turism & Sjöfart and plays a key role in our Grand Sweden Cruise.

Cabins on board M/S Diana

The cabins are tastefully furnished with brass accents and fine maritime textiles. Compact in size – comparable to a traditional train sleeping compartment, they evoke a nostalgic sense of travel. Each cabin includes a washbasin with hot and cold water and is located outside above the waterline.

Cabin categories

Category A – Bridge deck

Top deck with nine cabins and direct access to the sun deck – offering the best views. Guests in category A receive welcome champagne, fruit and a bathrobe upon boarding. Two combined toilet-and-shower facilities are located on this deck.

Category B – Shelter deck

Middle deck featuring six cabins alongside the dining room and comfortable lounge. This is the main boarding level. One shared toilet is located next to the cabins.

Category C – Main deck

Lower deck with ten cabins, including two honeymoon cabins with 140 cm beds and one three-bed cabin. Four shared toilets, two of which include showers, serve this deck.

Beds

On the bridge and shelter decks, all cabins include bunk beds. On the main deck, cabins typically have two single beds side by side, except the two honeymoon cabins with generous queensize beds.

Toilets & showers

No cabins have private bathrooms. Common toilets are located on all decks, and showers are available on the bridge and main decks. Close proximity to cabins and private doors ensure full privacy. All communal facilities are maintained in the classic style of the vessel and cleaned multiple times daily.

Karin (gastvrouw) ontving ons aan boord, checkte onze ticket en Rasmus (machinist) bracht ons naar onze hut. Daar stond ons welkomstgeschenk.
